2008 Pinot Gris

FEBRUARY 2009

SMYTHE ROAD VINTNERS are pleased to announce the release of our 2008 EDEN VALLEY PINOT GRIS.

Sourced from the premium cool climate, Eden Valley region of South Australia, this is a wine of considerable presence.

It has a ripe pear and spice bouquet with pear and cinnamon on the palate balanced with a crisp dry finish.

The wine, produced by internationally acclaimed winemaker and 2008 Australian winemaker of the year Joanne Irvine, has been aged for 3 months on lees for added complexity to produce a classic Pinot Gris style, which will compliment a range of international dishes.

This is a wine with finesse, which can be enjoyed now or aged for some time and remain fresh because of the excellent screw cap seal.

2005 LABELJUNE 2008

Premium award winning South Australian boutique Winery Smythe Road has released its 2005 PURE BAROSSA SHIRAZ vintage this week and it's a Barossa blockbuster.

Due to the above average temperatures during the vintage season just 425 dozen bottles have been produced and while this is only the label's third premium vintage, already wine judges have rated it among the year's top drops.

The inaugural 2003 vintage won Winestate Magazine's Best New Release, the 2004 won Silver at the International Wine Challenge in Singapore and the first cases of the 2005 premium Shiraz have already been dispatched to interstate wine merchants eager to stack it on their shelves.

Local restaurants including Jolley's, George's on Waymouth, Wine Underground, Chesser Cellar, Alphutte and the Argentinian Grill have ordered premium Smythe Road Pure Barossa Shiraz for their wine lists.

Smythe Road Proprietor and former boss of Food South Australia, Grahame Tonkin believes that the label's success is the result of the company's uncompromising passion to produce handcrafted, individual vineyard wines of intense fruit character balanced with elegant tannins, rarely achievable by companies that blend grapes from different areas.

Produced by respected winemaker David Norman in conjunction with legendary winemaker Jim Irvine, the 2005 vintage continues Smythe Road's traditional Barossa Shiraz style that is rich with fruit and spice characteristics giving great length of flavour.

All fruit used in Smythe Road premium Pure Barossa Shiraz is estate grown at their single vineyard in the Stonewell region of the Barossa Valley and every bunch of grapes is hand picked from vines that are trellised on a single wire to maximise fruit exposure.

2006 Pinot GrisAUGUST 2006

Smythe Road is proud to announce the release of our brand new wine: The 2006 EDEN VALLEY PINOT GRIS.

The pinot gris grapes for this delightful wine were selected from two premium vineyards in the cool climate Eden Valley region renowned for producing white wines of wonderful flavour and full bodied character. It is delicately fragrant with light lemon-citrus flavours that linger through the palate. This wine can be enjoyed now for its freshness and ability to enhance the flavours of your chosen food. For those who are fond of older whites, this wine will age beautifully.
